Small "vide-poches" table, in solid maple wood and brass edges. Directory period, France. End of the 17th c.

Furniture condition:
It arrives at the workshop with the varnish in bad shape. The detached and unglued margins of the 1st hexagonal panel.
Catering:
The margins of the 1st hexagonal panel have been removed. Removed the corners and brass ornaments.
Trimmed some margins and the corresponding brass to fit in the hex of the 1st panel. Relocated
Cleaned the varnish respecting the patina.
Plastered defects with wax stucco. Varnished with shellac "la francesa", and the brass ornaments replaced.
The Directory style is a period of transition between the Louis XVI style and the Empire (1795-1799) inspired by the discovery of Herculaneum and Pompeii that open to a new vision of the world, it recovers straight and simple lines, ornaments of 'classic Greco-Roman inspiration (arrows, palms, signs, lyres...) Native woods are recovered (walnut, chestnut, oak, maple, beech...).
Any reminiscence related to the "Lluísos" is removed.

It arrives at the workshop disheveled, dirty, with fungus, and with a rotten leather seat and backrest.
The leather has been removed.
The wood has been cleaned and pickled.
The laces that moved have been glued and some that were broken have been reinforced with bolts.
It has been painted, plastered with plaster and wax stucco.
It has been varnished with shellac and finished with wax.
Templates of the seat and backrest have been made with newspaper.
The leather has been cut to the appropriate shape.
The leather has been tanned, to be able to work with it better and to make it harder once dry.
The backrests and the seat have been lined with plastic to be able to adapt the "wet" leather, it has been left to dry and disassembled to remove the plastic.
The seat has been reinforced with rocks.
The leather has been fixed with upholstery nails and finished with studs.
